Meghdoot Mobile App: The problem of climate change is dominating the whole world. The bad effect of climate change is being seen on nature. Many species are becoming extinct, while efforts are being made to save some species. Meanwhile, agriculture has also been badly affected. Sometimes lightning, rain or sometimes strong sunlight or sudden change of weather affects the crops badly. If the information about these upcoming incidents is received in advance, then the loss can be reduced to a great extent. Yes, from now on both Meghdoot and Damini will inform you before the weather changes. This is not a human being, but a mobile application, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store at no cost.
How Damini Mobile App Works
The Damini mobile application is based on an indigenous technology developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Metrology, Pune. By downloading the Damini Mobile App in your smart phone, you can get meteorological updates as well as alerts half an hour before lightning strikes.
If there is a possibility of lightning strike in the farmer’s field or in the surrounding 10 km field, then an audio message or SMS alert is sent on the mobile. Due to this, the farmers become alert in advance and can take some measures to save their crops as well.
Meghdoot became the messiah of the farmers
Meghdoot is also an indigenously developed application, which has been developed and launched by the joint efforts of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute and the Indian Meteorological Department, where farmers get instant weather information. In this mobile application, advisories related to crop risk management are also issued for the farmers.
Every Tuesday and Friday on the Meghdoot app, the Agromet Field Unit provides district-wise crop advice and forecasted weather information, which helps the farmers to settle all agricultural works including sowing of crops, use of pesticides, fertilizers, irrigation at the right time. I get help. Forecasts of rain, temperature humidity, wind speed and direction are issued on this application.
Advisory issued to sugarcane farmers
Sugarcane is cultivated on a large scale in India. Sometimes the productivity of sugarcane is also greatly affected due to the uncertainties of the weather, but now with the help of Damini and Meghdoot app, the possibility of major losses can be reduced. On this app, sugarcane farmers are advised not to use open fields, hilly areas or rocks on receiving lightning alerts.
During this, distance should also be maintained from ponds, lakes and means that conduct electricity. Electric equipment or mobile or any other instrument connected to the wire should also not be used.
